E3 is upon us and boy, is it a big one for Microsoft and all things Xbox. With their Xbox One upgrade Scorpio – the only home console capable of true 4K gaming, don’t you know? – due for a proper unveiling, Microsoft simply have to impress. Here’s what we think will go down in Chinatown. Or LA.
With Fable Legends and Phantom Dust apparently dead and gone, Microsoft find themselves in a tricky situation. Quantum Break has finally launched to critical and commercial acclaim, and Rare’s Sea Of Thieves is on the horizon, but Sony still have a stranglehold on the current generation. Phil Spencer has been promising games, and he’s certainly been bringing them – we’re all familiar with the Halos, the Gears, the Forzas and the Crackdowns of Microsoft’s lineup. Back in 2004, when Lionhead released the original Fable, it was met with both critical and commercial success, and rightfully so, for it was one of the best examples of the role playing genre to descend upon us mere mortal gamers from the great development studio in the sky (in reality, they’re based in Guildford). Ten years later, and after receiving a glossy makeover courtesy of Epic’s Unreal Engine 3, Fable is back, but does it still hold up as well as it once did?
