It’s been slim pickings for Sony fans since November. Worry not, true-believer, for our Steve is here to tell you just how skinny your wallets are going to be by the end of March. Read on!
This week we take a look at what’s to come in the first quarter of 2014 – it’s jam-packed with GREATNESS:
With Dragonball Z – Battle for Z (PS3, PSVita) and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (PS3), January will have made the hearts of anime fans jump higher. Lara Croft will also be making her next-gen debut with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4).
February will start like a modern day fairy tale with The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: Smoke & Mirrors (PS3) on February 5th. It will continue all bundled up on February 11th with the BioShock Infinite + Skyrim Bundle (PS3) and the Borderlands 2 and Dishonoured Bundle (PS3) hitting shelves at a retailer near you. Playstation fans with a penchant for shooting and anything bug-related should ready their guns for Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3) on February 18th.
If you loved last year’s hit – The Last of Us – then you can show your love to Naughty Dog on Valentine’s day by downloading the first story DLC ‘Left Behind’ (PS3). Valentine’s Day will also warm the aortic pumps of Lego Fans, big and small, with The LEGO Movie Videogame (PS4, PS3, PS Vita).
The end of February will see two protagonists return to consoles who do not enjoy long walks on the beach, but like to spend their time lurking in the shadows with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (PS3) and Thief (PS3, PS4) on February 28th.
March is definitely THE month of games for the first quarter, if not all, of 2014. South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3) will tickle the funny bone of RPG fans and stick it to the man that dares to defy Cartmans authoritaaahn on March 7th. Sharpen your swords and make sure you don’t turn hollow because Dark Souls 2 (PS3) will make you suffer and question your skills starting March 14th.
Hideo Kojima will bring us the first part of MGS5, hopefully not hanging off the side of a horse like the trailer would have us believe, on the 20th of March when Big Boss (or is it Snake, one can never be too sure) sneaks his way in to our consoles with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS3, PS4). March 2014 will end by going up in smoke and flames when the first game to really showcase what the PS4 hardware can do will hit stores on March 21st with inFamous: Second Son (PS4).
Even with Destiny and Watchdogs pushed to the end of 2014, our wallets will still begin the year with a substantial dent from the Greatness that awaits in Q1 of 2014!
Here are my predictions for what you can expect from the Q1 2014 games on Sony’s formats:
MUST HAVE: inFamous: Second Son
TOP RENTAL: LEGO Movie
MOST PUNISHING: Dark Souls 2
TOP DOWNLOAD: The Last of Us – Left Behind
MOST FART JOKES: South Park: The Stick of Truth
